HISTORY

The Golden Heritage Polytechnic College duly registered with the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-stock, non-profit, non-sectarian educational institution was founded in 1987 by Capt. Tito P. Dichosa, a master mariner and a maritime school department head at the same time professor and his wife Netty D. Dichosa, a grade school teacher, with the vision of producing quality graduates at a very low school fees. It operates with the authority of the Department of Education (DepED) for its basic education program, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for its tertiary training programs, and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for its tertiary baccalaureate programs.

In 1987, Northern Mindanao Polytechnic School started its operation at Executive Centrum Building, J.R. Borja Street, Cagayan de Oro City offering courses recognized by the government: Two-Year Office Administration, Two-Year Hotel and Restaurant Management, Two-Year Flight Stewardess Services, Two-Year Automotive Maintenance Technician, Two-Year Aircraft Maintenance Technician, Two-Year Marine Electronic Technician, Two-Year Marine Refrigeration, Two-Year Marine Technology Specializing in Marine Engineering, Two-Year Computer Programming, Six-Month Basic Seaman Course, BS in Marine Transportation and BS in Accountancy. All courses mentioned above is either phased-out or updated based on the guidelines of DepED, TESDA and CHED.

In 1991, the school was relocated in Vamenta Boulevard, Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City. In 1994, the Secondary Education Curriculum was recognized by the Department of Education Culture and Sports (DECS). In 1997, DECS gave the recognition to the school to offer Kindergarten in 1997 and Elementary in 1998. The school, in order to help the working students who wanted to finish high school at a very low school feesopened the Secondary Education Program intended for the Sunday class schedulewhich was recognized in 2001.

In the year 1998, the school’s name was changed from Northern Mindanao Polytechnic School to Golden Heritage Polytechnic College. The name Golden Heritage was named by the school founder, Capt. Tito P. Dichosa as translated in the Visayan vernacular as “Bulawanong Kabilin” which means to him that education to him is the best treasure that the parents can give their children.

Working students who wanted to pursue their college education, the school opened CHEDprograms. In 2003, Bachelor of Science in Office Administration was given government recognition. In year 2007, Bachelor of Elementary Education and Bachelor of Secondary Education were also recognized by the government. And in 2009, the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration was also given the government recognition.

Golden Heritage continuously upgraded the TESDAtraining programslike Bookkeeping NC III, Cookery NC II, Food and Beverage Services NC II, Housekeeping NC II, Bartending NC II, Automotive NC I and II, and Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II.

In September 2013, Golden Heritage was recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) for its student Miriam Aranzado Miranda who got Top 1 in the Licensure Examination for Teachers, having a total of 62,160 examinees nationwide.

With the help of the Almighty God the Father, Golden Heritagecontinues its endeavor to help the students to develop a refined character which will lead them to become an achiever and this is the school’s “Bulawanong Kabilin” to its beloved students.
